JULY Meeting: Classic American 4th of JULY at Meriwether Vineyards!
AUGUST Meeting: None - Summer break
Summer at the Wineries: Polo? Shakespeare? Old Fords? Mamma Mia?
Read on and be dazzled!

Your Chapter closes out the Spring season, not with a whimper but a series of bangs. There will be no hand-wringing and psalm-singing at the church this month, no ma'am; we're going to Meriwether Vineyards and blow the place up. Then we'll lay low in August, no meeting until September when we will gather, chastened and sober once again at the church.

JULY MEETING

This Sunday, Chris Pearmund will open his stately Meriwether mansion to us Plainsfolk and stage the mommy of all 4th of July parties. He'll be providing wine, keg beer, BBQ'd chicken and hot dogs. There will be trampoline, games and hay wagon rides for the kids, live music for all. An aerial fireworks show will cap off the evening, but bangs will be provided thruout the day by a battery of potato bazookas. Without getting
all technical, I will tell you that a plastic tube, fueled only by a whiff of hairspray, can fire a potato most of a mile. As you watch the kids lob
spuds into the vineyards, consider how different would history be if Robert E. Lee had been armed with these suckers: y'all Yankees would be slurpin' cappucinos made outta grits today, better believe it.

Chris asks that people bring chairs, a dish to share, and $10 per person [to help pay for potatoes]. Festivities begin at 4pm.  Bring a smile and a camera. You DON'T want to miss this day!  Directions to Meriwether Vineyard are:

AUGUST MEETING

NONE. Take a break, try to find a life.

Shakespeare - Bluegrass - Twilite Polo - Old Fords?? You name it, the wineries are serving it up this summer. See a very long list of offerings for just the month of July at the end of this newsletter. You can find them and many more at these web sites [updated since newsletter release]:

SEPTEMBER MEETING

Will we meet on the first Sunday of September, in the middle of Labor Day Weekend? Not bloody likely, but who knows. Watch
this space for late-breaking news.

IN THE NEXT ISSUE

Time and space limits here dictate that we delay the minutes of the last meeting, convened and conducted by the irascible Mike Schlosser, but Mike will have his day next month in an otherwise-lean month, newswise.

Meantime, gather your picnic gear, don your summer attire, assemble the cherubs and proceed to Pearless Pearmund's for a Fourth of July you won't forget!

See you Sunday -
